  Spring 2011 & Fall 2011 Applications Open

Applications to SNC are accepted on a rolling basis, but it is strongly recommended that students submit the required documents as soon as possible. You can apply online or complete the SNC paper application and submit it to the address below with other required documents. For additional requirements and other admission information, see Freshman, Transfer or International pages.

In most cases, once an application file is complete, an admission decision will be sent out within three weeks.

Committing to Sierra Nevada College

Accepted students who have decided to attend Sierra Nevada College should send their non-refundable $150 confirmation deposit by June 1 for the Fall term. Students who deposit after June 1 will be subject to space limitations.
 

Wait List

The College may assign some applicants to a wait list. Students will be notified no later than July 15 of their status on the wait list.
 

College Credit while in High School

Entering first-year students who have taken college courses during their junior or senior year of high school or in the summer prior to entering Sierra Nevada College must report such work to the Office of Admission. At the student’s request, the College Registrar will determine whether such work will receive credit at Sierra Nevada College.
 

Teacher Education Students

Students who have earned a baccalaureate degree may be interested in applying to the Teacher Education Program to become eligible for teacher certification. Refer to the Teacher Education Program pages for further information about admission and program requirements.
 

Re-admission

Students who have withdrawn for over a year or been dismissed from the College must re-apply for admission. Candidates should request an application from the Office of Admission and file the application as early as possible. If the student has attended classes at another college or university in the interim, official transcripts must be sent from each institution attended.
 

Falsification of Admission Documents

Any student who enters the College using false information, or by omitting required information, is subject to penalty, including immediate dismissal without refund of tuition.
 

Alternative Means of Awarding Credit

Advanced Placement (AP) Credit
The Advanced Placement Examinations of the College Board usually are taken during the senior year of high school in conjunction with certain courses. Depending on the subject, three to six semester credits of college credit may be granted for each AP examination in which a student earns a score of 5, 4, or 3. Official notification from the College Board must be provided to the College in order for the student to gain such credit. Depending on what subject, three to six semester credits of college credit may be granted for each AP examination in which a student earns a score of 5, 4, or 3.

International Baccalaureate Exam (IB)
Three to six semester credits of College credit will be granted for each IB exam in which a student earns a score of 7, 6 or 5. Official notification from the IB Program must be provided to the College in order for the student to gain such credit.

Military Credit
Students may be granted credit for military school courses according to the recommendations for institutions of higher education in the appropriate volume of the American Council of Education’s Guide to the Evaluation of Educational Experiences in the Armed Services. The student must provide the Registrar with an official Armed Forces transcript in order to have such credit evaluated.

College Level Examination Program (CLEP)
SNC grants credit for the CLEP examinations. Please contact the college for further details.

Challenging Courses
Undergraduate students may challenge courses listed in the catalog to satisfy specific subject requirements for graduation except for physical education courses, Teacher Education courses, laboratory or studio courses, general education courses, and departmental major requirements.
